Invited presentation at the Workshop on “Smart Bioelectronic and Wearable Systems”

LTFN, OET, and HOPE-A participated in the Workshop on “Smart Bioelectronic and Wearable Systems” that took place on 22-23 October in Brussels. This two - day EC workshop presented topics covering smart systems across Key Digital technologies. Great emphasis was given on bio-electronics, bio-photonics, and flexible and wearable electronics. This event also highlighted the role of Bioelectronics and Flexible & Wearable Electronics in the context of the Digital R&I Agenda, such as Edge Computing, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, and Cybersecurity.

Dr. Ria Pechlivani, R&D&I manager of OET, presented a wearable kit with integrated flexible printed organic electronic products for energy, lighting and IoT interaction. Furthermore, in the properly formed exhibition area, running and completed EU-funded projects had the chance to present their results via demonstrators and visuals. LTFN is the coordinator and both OET and HOPE-A are partners of the consortium of the two EU projects Smartline and CORNET.

Smartline is the project that will create intelligent and zero-defect manufacturing processes by developing robust and non-destructive in-line metrology tools and process control platform to achieve the reliable and closed-loop manufacturing of Organic Electronic devices (OPVs and OLEDs for lighting) by Roll-to-Roll Printing and Organic Vapour Phase Deposition (OVPD) pilot lines. More information available here. CORNET is the project that will develop a unique EU Open Innovation Environment (OIE) covering the triangle of manufacturing, modeling, and experimentation in order to optimize the Organic/Large Area Electronic (OE) materials, materials' behavior and nano-devices (OPVs, PPVs, OLEDs) manufacturing processes. More information available here.
